Elon Women’s Basketball Tabbed 10th in Preseason Poll

The Elon women’s basketball team was picked to finish 10th in the Southern Conference, according to a vote by the league’s coaches. For the third straight year, Chattanooga was selected to win the SoCon regular-season title and received nine first-place votes. The Phoenix will host the Apprentice School on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m., in an exhibition game before opening its regular season on Friday Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., against Youngstown State in the Phoenix Classic Presented by Comfort Inn.

Elon to Host Local Rival UNCG in Critical Conference Clash

The Elon men’s soccer team looks to secure a spot in the upcoming Southern Conference Tournament this weekend when it hosts local league rival UNC Greensboro on Saturday, November 7 at Rudd Field at 7 p.m. Phoenix fans should plan to arrive early to enjoy a slice of pizza and a cup of hot chocolate and pick up some thunderstix to cheer on the home team. The Phoenix will also honor seven seniors for their contributions to Elon soccer prior to the kick on Saturday.

During the upcoming 2009-10 Elon Phoenix men’s basketball season, fans will be able to tune in to WPCM 920 AM to catch all the action which will be brought to them by the voices of long-time local sports anchor Greg Kerr and Elon alumnus Taylor Durham. Fans can also listed to each road game online at elonphoenix.com free of charge. For Elon home contests, audio and video will be provided through Phoenix All-Access. Fans can purchase this service on a per game or season-pass basis.

Wyatt Recognized as SoCon Men’s Soccer Player of the Month

Elon senior Justin Wyatt was selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Month for his performance throughout the month of October. Wyatt assisted on four goals while scoring two of his own and helped the Phoenix to a 5-2-1 mark last month. The Phoenix will be back in action for a critical conference matchup against local rival UNC Greensboro on Saturday, November 7 at Rudd Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
