Elon Resumes SoCon Play on Saturday Against ASU

Fresh off its 1-0 victory against No. 16/20 North Carolina, the Elon softball team returns to action tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. for a Southern Conference doubleheader against Appalachian State at East Field. The Phoenix (15-4, 3-0) enters the contest having won six of its last seven games, including a three-game sweep of Western Carolina in the SoCon opener. Appalachian State owns an 11-7 record and is 2-1 in league play. The Phoenix leads the Mountaineers 18-7 in the all-time series.

Cotton Tabbed SoCon Field Athlete of the Week

Urysla Cotton of the Elon track and field team picked up Southern Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the league’s office. It is the third time this season that a member of the Elon track and field team has been awarded the honor. Cotton and the Phoenix will return to action on March 26-27 when they travel to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State.

Men’s Soccer Plays to Draw in Second Spring Game

The Elon men’s soccer team played the visiting Sports-ed squad to a 1-1 draw after the visitors scored a late goal to knot the score. Sports-ed is a group comprised of international athletes that periodically tours the United States and competes against college teams. The Phoenix’s lone goal came on a penalty kick by freshman Chris Thomas. Elon will host Gardner-Webb and Louisburg College on Thursday, April 1.
