Kinney Signs Professional Contract with Chicago Fire

Former Elon soccer standout Steven Kinney has signed a contract to play for Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire. Kinney, who became the first player in Elon program history to be drafted in the MLS last January, is the first-ever Elon player to be signed by an MLS club. He was selected in the third round with the 45th overall pick of the MLS SuperDraft. The Fire will open its season on Saturday, March 27 at New York. The game will air on ESPN at 6 p.m.

Phoenix to Face Seahawks on Tuesday Night

The Elon Phoenix returns to Latham Park for the first of four games this week when it hosts the UNC Wilmington Seahawks at 6 p.m. on Tuesday night. The game will be carried live on Phoenix All-Access as well as on WSOE 89.3 FM. This is the second of nine midweek dates in which the first 200 fans will receive a free Elon Phoenix baseball card. J.D. Reichenbach will take the mound for the Phoenix.

Graham Earns Second SoCon Player of the Week Honor

Elon softball player Emerald Graham was tabbed the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played March 8-14. It is the second time this season that Graham has earned the weekly award. She also became the first Elon softball player to ever receive the award twice in the same season.

Women's Golf Places Ninth at Low Country Intercollegiate

The Elon Phoenix women’s golf team shot a final round 326 on its way to a ninth-place finish at the Low Country Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Phoenix finished the two-round event with a score of 655. Southern Conference rival, and co-host, Western Carolina won the 14-team event with a score of 616 (304-312). Elon will be back in action March 22-23 at the UNCW Lady Seahawk Classic.
