7/8/2008Rising senior Cory Harrilchak and rising sophomore Jimmy Reyes have been named to the 2008 Northwoods League All-Star Game that will be played Monday, July 14 at 8:05 p.m. in Madison, Wisc. This year’s All-Stars were chosen in a vote by the 14 member teams of the Northwoods League. The two-day event, which begins with a fan fest on Sunday afternoon July 13, will conclude with the 2008 Northwoods League All-Star Game. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU beginning at 8 p.m.
Story Elon Puts 155 Student-Athletes on SoCon Academic Honor Roll7/7/2008Elon University added 155 student-athletes to the more than 1,600 student-athletes from 11 member institutions to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2007-08 academic year. This is the most honorees since the inception of the honor roll, surpassing the previous high by almost 100 student-athletes. Senior Katelyn Ealer and freshmen Tara McFadden and Sarah Schermerhorn finished the 2007-08 academic year with GPA’s of 4.0.
Story Johnson Named NGCA All-American Scholar7/3/2008Elon University’s Kelsey Johnson has been selected to the 2007-08 National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. The rising junior has fashioned a 3.62 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in mathematics and engineering physics. Johnson becomes the sixth Phoenix athlete – and first in five seasons – to be chosen to an NGCA All-American Scholar Team during the 11-year history of the Elon women’s golf program.
Story Phoenix Baseball Players Competing in Summer Leagues7/2/2008Sixteen returning members and two incoming members of the Elon Phoenix baseball squad are competing in summer league competition in leagues around the country. Elon players are seeing action in five different leagues – the Northwoods League, New England Collegiate Baseball League, the Valley League, the Coastal Plain League and the Boise Summer League.
