Adams, McCoury Key Late Elon Rally to Victory

For the second straight game, the Elon Phoenix baseball team picked up the win with a rally in the bottom of the ninth inning. On Wednesday, Grant McCoury’s pinch-hit double to center drove in pinch-runner David Wood from second base as the Phoenix capped a six-run ninth for a 10-9 win over the visiting Old Dominion Monarchs from Latham Park. The Phoenix will open its Southern Conference title defense on Friday with a three-game series at Furman. Friday’s game will start at 7 p.m.

Elon Softball Splits Doubleheader With Eastern Kentucky

Elon split a doubleheader against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on Wednesday afternoon to move to 11-4 on the season. Elon won the first game 7-1 before falling 3-2 in the second game at East Field. EKU is now 4-13. Emerald Graham went 4-for-6 with two RBI and three runs over the two games. Caitlin McGowan drove in a team-best four runs on 2-of-4 hitting.

Phoenix and RailHawks Battle in First Spring Game

The Elon men’s soccer team opened its spring season last Friday night when it hosted the Carolina RailHawks, a local professional team out of Cary, N.C. The RailHawks got off to a fast and furious start, scoring three quick goals, and ultimately earned the 3-2 victory. Elon was playing its first of nine exhibition games and had been limited in outdoor practice sessions this spring due to the stretches of winter weather that have hit the South.

Fekete Top Elon Finisher at Palmetto Intercollegiate

Mike Fekete fired an even par 72 in the third and final round of The Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate to lead the Elon men’s golf team to a 14th-place finish with a total score of 902 (303-297-302). Chattanooga collected the team title after a score of 855 (285-277-293) over the three rounds of the 18-team field.
