SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
Elon sophomore Caroline Lemke, an outside hitter and middle blocker and native
of Carmel, Ind. was named the Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week
for all games played the week of October 25. Lemke hit .455 in Elon’s two
matches, averaging 3.71 kills per set, and tallied seven blocks, including two
solos, to lead the team in wins over Samford and Chattanooga. She led the team
in both blocks and kill in each match.
It is the first time a Phoenix volleyball player has been
named the player of the week since Elon joined the SoCon in 2003.
Lemke, a business fellow, hit .400 or better in each match over
the weekend. In Elon’s 3-0 sweep of Samford, Lemke recorded an attack percentage
of .400 while posting eight kills and four errors. She committed just two
hitting errors against the Bulldogs.
Against Chattanooga, Lemke hit .483 and tallied a
season-high 18 kills. She also added three blocks.
Elon will host UNC Greensboro on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 7
p.m., before taking on Wofford on Saturday at 2 p.m., in Alumni Gym.
