SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
The Elon women’s basketball team was picked to finish 10th in the
Southern Conference, according to a vote by the league’s coaches. For the third
straight year, Chattanooga was selected to win the SoCon regular-season title
and received nine first-place votes.
Samford received the other two first-place votes and was
picked to finish second with 91 total points. The College of Charleston was selected
third (84) followed by Davidson, which received 64 votes. Defending SoCon
Tournament champion Western Carolina was selected to finish fifth with 56 votes
followed by Georgia Southern (56) and UNC Greensboro (54). Appalachian State
and Furman tied for eighth with 31 points each. Wofford rounded out the
selections with 12 points for 11th-place.
The Phoenix will host the Apprentice School on Sunday, Nov.
8 at 2 p.m., in an exhibition game before opening its regular season on Friday
Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., against Youngstown State in the Phoenix Classic Presented by
Comfort Inn.
