Women’s Cross Country Ranked 15th in Southeast Region

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – The Elon women’s cross country team made its first-ever appearance in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s Southeast Regional ranking. The Phoenix came in at 15th behind teams from Duke, NC State, North Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, Wake Forest, Clemson and South Carolina.

The ranking came after the Phoenix finished second at the Southern Conference cross country meet last weekend. The Phoenix was led by senior Caitlin Beeler who finished seventh with a time of 15:54.55. For her efforts, Beeler earned first team all-conference honors.

Junior Emily Fournier finished 10th with a time of 18:58.41 to earn a spot on the all-conference second team. Freshmen Morgan Denecke and Sullivan Parkes rounded out the top-25 finishers for the Phoenix as they finished 15th and 22nd with times of 19:05.09 and 19:13.09, respectively. The duo were named to the SoCon All-Freshman team.

Southern Conference foes Samford and Chattanooga made appearances on the USTFCCA South Regional rankings at ninth and 14th, respectively.
