Complete List of Nominees

ELON, N.C. – Zora Stephenson (Vienna, Va./Oakton) and Shannen Cochraham (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield), two Elon University women’s basketball signees for the 2011-12 season, have been named McDonald’s High School All-American nominees. A total of 19 players from the state of Virginia were nominated.

Stephenson, a 5-foot-10 shooting guard, averaged 19.0 points per game last season at Oakton and tallied over 1,000 career points going into her senior season. Stephenson holds a 3.7 GPA and intends on majoring in education (pre-law) at Elon.

Cochraham, a 6-foot-3 center, led Hayfield in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots last season, averaging 12 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks per contest. Cochraham maintains a 3.2 GPA and intends on majoring in education or pre-law when she arrives at Elon.

Head coach Karen Barefoot's 2011-12 class garnered national praise, as Collegiate Girls Basketball Report ranked it No. 71 in the nation and second in the Southern Conference.
