LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Elon University men’s and women’s cross country teams concluded action in the NCAA Southeast Regional today, Nov. 12, at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park. The women took 21
st in the 6K race with 240 points, while the men finished 23
rd in the 10K with 647 points. The men and women combined to add six new times to the program’s all-time performance list.
Junior
Morgan Denecke led the Phoenix women with the second-best 6K time in program history of 21:52.5 for 65th. Sophomore

Haylee Dawe replaced the sixth through eighth times on the performance list with new personal bests. Oram (22:18.3) took 95th, while Tryon (22:19.7) and Dawe (22:31.7) placed 98th and 112th.
Sophomore

Christine Pacewicz finished in 180th and 182nd, respectively, with times of 23:37.8 and 23:38.9. Sophomore
Brennan McDavid capped the women’s race for Elon after finishing 202nd with a time of 24:03.6.
Freshman
Luis Vargas was the top Elon finisher in the men’s race, finishing 92nd with a time of 32:34.0. Redshirt freshman
Sean Magee followed with a time of 32:37.0 that placed him 106th. The two times from the SoCon All-Freshmen performers now rank third and fourth on Elon’s all-time 10K performance list.
Freshman
Ari Rothschild (33:26.1) and senior
Clay Sankey (33:53.3) were the next pair of runners to cross the finish line for the Phoenix, coming in 140th and 158th, respectively. Sophomore
Ben Perron placed 164th with a time of 34:07.8, while freshman
Adam Bernstein and senior #Conor O’Brien# crossed the finish line at 34:38.4 and 35:37.8 for 179th and 199th.
The women’s race consisted of 35 teams with the Elon women defeating three other SoCon schools (College of Charleston, Davidson and Western Carolina). The men’s race, which was comprised of 32 teams, saw the Phoenix defeating SoCon school Western Carolina.
North Carolina State won the men’s team title with 68 points, while the Wolfpack’s Ryan Hill won the individual title with a time of 29:48.8. Virginia was the winner of the women’s title with 107 points. North Carolina’s Kendra Schaaf claimed first in the 6K race with a time of 19:52.9.
