CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Elon men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Charlotte Invitational today, Sept. 30, finishing 15^th and fifth, respectively. Sophomore Allyson Oram set a new Elon record with a time of 17:45.85 as the women added three new times to the Elon all-time performance list.
 
“I was really pleased with how the women raced today,” said head Elon men’s and women’s cross country coach Christine Engel. “It was an incredibly competitive field and we beat a lot of strong programs to finish fifth out of 34 teams. I thought we really ran as a team, which was important with there only being one meet left before the conference championships.”
 
Oram took 21^st out of the 289 competitors in the women’s race with her record time, while sophomore Morgan Denecke set a new personal best of 17:54.00 for 27^th that ranks second on the performance list. Freshman Haylee Dawe now owns the fourth-best Elon time after recording a time of 18:04.03 to claim 33^rd, her third-straight meet with a new personal record. Junior Emily Tryon finished in 18:27.02, while junior Christine Pacewicz set a new personal best of 18:47.32. Sophomores Amanda Parker and Brennan McDavid rounded out Race A for the Phoenix after recording times of 19:18.96 and 19:21.56, respectively.
  
In the men’s race, freshman Ari Rothschild was the top Elon finisher in 65^th with a personal-best time of 26:03.57. Freshman Adam Bernstein took 91^st out of the 260 runners with a time of 26:35.58, a new personal record. Senior Clay Sankey finished in 26:44.41, while sophomore Ben Perron recorded a time of 26:49.39. Senior #Conor O’Brien and junior Ranley Gousse# were the fifth and sixth Elon finishers in Race A with times of 27:06.50 and 27:33.46, respectively.
 
The Elon cross country teams will return to Charlotte in two weeks for the Royal Cross Country Challenge on Friday, Oct. 14.
