ELON, N.C. -- After his week one performance in Elon's opener at Vanderbilt, junior wide receiver
Aaron Mellette has been recognized as the co-Wide Receiver Performer of the Week by College Football Performance Awards.
Mellette had an exceptional game against the SEC's Commodores, catching 11 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed twice for 12 yards to account for 192 all-purpose yards. The performance was the seventh 100-yard game of Mellette's career in the maroon and gold.
The Phoenix also continued to receive votes for a top-25 ranking. Elon received 18 points in this week's The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top-25 poll.
Mellette and the Phoenix will be back in action on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 10. The club will play host to Concord in the home-opener at 7 p.m. Fireworks will follow the game.
