ELON, N.C. -- Elon's fifth annual The Night of the Phoenix fundraising event is quickly approaching.  The date of this year's event is Friday, February 17 and begins at 6:30 p.m. in Alumni Gym.

Last year's The Night of the Phoenix event set a new event record by raising over $91,000 for student-athlete scholarships. Through four years of existence, The Night of the Phoenix has now raised nearly $300,000 in annual scholarship support for the Phoenix Club. The event is coordinated by the Phoenix Club Advisory Board and Elon’s Department of Athletics.

In 2012, the night will once again begin with a social hour during which attendees will have the opportunity to bid on numerous silent auction items.  This year's auction will include a seven-day cruise on a private yacht in the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, a stay at the New York Yacht Club, a food and wine pairing dinner for 10 at B. Christopher's with a personal sommelier, a private suite at a Charlotte Bobcats or Charlotte Checkers game (16 tickets, four parking passes and $500 worth of catering) along with an assortment of vacation opportunities, autographed sports memorabilia and Elon Athletics items (including a trip to Chattanooga with the football team in the fall).

Guests will also be served dinner and then be entertained by a high-octane, improvisational painting performance by Paintjam.  Paintjam performer Dan Dunn has appeared on the Super Bowl XLIV Pregame Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, The Early Show (CBS), Good Day New York and the Fox News morning show as well as television shows in the Middle East, Turkey and Japan.

Patrons can still purchase tables to the event, but they are going fast and the event is expected to sell out again this year.  A "Maroon" table can be secured for $1,000 while a "Gold" table, which includes dinner with an Elon coach and VIP parking, is $1,500.  Individual seats at tables can be purchased for $125 at a "Maroon" table and $187.50 at a "Gold" table.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Phoenix Club.  The goal of the Phoenix Club is to raise scholarship resources for Elon student-athletes.
