View Full Schedule

ELON, N.C. –
Following a successful fall campaign, Elon University head women’s tennis coach Elizabeth Anderson has announced her team’s 2013 spring schedule, which includes hosting the Southern Conference Tennis Championships at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and Burlington Tennis Center.

“After a very competitive fall, we are looking forward to a strong non-conference start of the spring season to prepare us for our competitive Southern Conference schedule,” stated Anderson. “Our team greatly appreciates everyone who comes out to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center to cheer on the team. We are very excited to host the Southern Conference Championships this year and for fans to see our great facility here.”

The Phoenix opens the season against a pair of tough Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponents. Elon begins the season in Winston-Salem, N.C., for the Wake Forest Winter Classic, Jan. 19-21. Two days later, the Phoenix heads to Chapel Hill, N.C., to face North Carolina.

Elon will play back-to-back matches indoors at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center in Greensboro, N.C., on Jan. 25-26 when it faces Richmond and Wake Forest.

The maroon and gold plays at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center for the first time on Feb. 9 when it hosts North Carolina Central at 10 a.m. The team’s non-conference home slate includes USC Upstate and North Carolina A&T (Feb. 16), Radford (Feb. 19), Longwood (March 1) and East Carolina (April 13). Elon also has non-conference road matches against UNC Wilmington (Feb. 22) and Charlotte (Feb. 28).

Conference action officially begins on March 9 when the Phoenix hosts Samford. A day later, the team welcomes the Chattanooga Lady Mocs to campus at 1 p.m. Elon also hosts conference foes UNCG (March 14), Davidson (March 20) and Appalachian State (April 11).

The 2013 SoCon Women’s Tennis Championships head to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on April 18-21. This year marks the 30th installment of the women’s championship, with the winner receiving the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
