Posey Joins Elon Baseball Staff

ELON, N.C. – Elon baseball coach Mike Kennedy has announced that Micah Posey has joined the Phoenix staff as a volunteeer assistant coach.

Posey comes to Elon following three seasons as an assistant coach at North Florida Christian School in Tallahassee, Fla.  During Posey's tenure with North Florida Christian, the program captured the 2011 FHSAA state championship and ranked in the top 30 nationally by both Baseball America and ESPN.  Posey worked with 10 NCAA Division I players as well as one current professional player while at North Florida Christian.  He assisted in the planning, organizing and conducting of practices while also analyzing video and developing long-toss and conditioning programs.

Posey has also served as the head coach for the 2011 Prospectwire Underclass All-American Game.  He worked with that program in 2009 and 2010 as well, recruiting players to the tournament.  Among his recruits to the event was Addison Russell, the 11th overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft.  Posey has had experience as a pitching coordinator and head coach with Next Level Baseball.

A 15th round selection of the Anaheim Angels out of high school, Posey signed to play professionally with the organization following one season at Tallahassee Community College where he was a first-team All-Panhandle Conference selection and a second-team all-state pick as a pitcher.  Posey was a member of the Angels' organization from 2002-07 and earned Mid-West League All-Star honors in 2004.  He also played two seasons of independent baseball where he was named to the United League's All-Star Team and won a league title in 2008.

Posey graduated from Florida State University with a degree in marketing in December 2011.
