ELON, N.C. – Over 100 Elon student-athletes took a break from busy final exam schedules to say thank you to all those who have supported them as members of the Phoenix Club this past year. Student-athletes invaded the Woods Center at Rhodes Stadium for three evenings at the end of April for the annual Thank-A-Thon, writing letters and making calls in appreciation of donors’ generosity.

“To have nearly a third of our student-athletes taking part in this year’s Thank-A-Thon was terrific,” said Elon Director of Athletics Dave Blank. “It was fun to watch them engage in conversations with our donors and have the chance to express appreciation. I think all of our student-athletes leave feeling like they have a more personal relationship with those who support their academic and athletic goals.”

Phoenix student-athletes made over 1,200 calls to donors and another 1,100 individuals received hand-written notes.

Junior volleyball player Carly Ledbetter said, “I truly loved working at the Thank-A-Thon and having the opportunity to call and talk to the people who support all of our endeavors. It was such a rewarding experience and I cannot wait to do it all again next year! I’ll be asking for another list!”

Phoenix Club members make the biggest impact on Elon’s athletic department by providing funds that go directly to student-athlete scholarships. As the Phoenix Club annual fund has continued to grow, so has the success associated with Elon athletic teams.
