BURLINGTON, N.C. – Elon women’s basketball’s
Arayael Brandner,
Ali Ford,
Kelsey Harris and
Lauren Hudson were a part of Eastlawn Elementary’s Spotlight Student of the Month Breakfast on Friday, Sept. 7. The four members of the 2012-13 Elon team helped hand out awards to Eastlawn students who displayed responsibility, the character trait of the month, in the classroom.
After breakfast and the awards ceremony, the players sat with the students and described how they demonstrate responsibility in their lives as student-athletes. They then described how responsibility is an important trait to continue at home with their parents and in the classroom with teachers.
“I love going to the spotlight breakfast because it give us a chance to connect with the younger generation and interact with them,” said Brandner. “We are around college students all the time and it’s nice to go out into the community and try to inspire some of the younger kids. It’s amazing to see how we can impact them with just saying a few words. It feels good to make a difference and make that child’s day.”
