ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men’s tennis team registered a 4-0 victory over Texas-Pan American on Monday night, March 11, in non-conference action from the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Due to impending weather conditions, the two teams played only singles action.
Elon improves to 5-4 on the year with the win, while UTPA drops to 4-6 with the setback.
Cameron Silverman, ranked 26th in the nation in singles, took care of business swiftly at No. 1 singles to give Elon a 1-0 lead. Silverman claimed a 6-0, 6-1, win in just 41 minutes over UTPA’s Thomas Panoulas.
Robert Lindgren was the next to finish for the maroon and gold, as the rookie claimed a 6-3, 6-0, win over Chetan Panditi at No. 3 singles.
At No. 2,
Stefan Fortmann pushed the Phoenix out to a 3-0 lead against the Broncos with a 6-0, 6-3, victory against Ricardo Hopker.
Brian Kowalski clinched the match win for Elon at No. 4 singles, defeating Sebastien Job in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.

Juan Madrid and
Carlos Arboleda played unfinished matches for the Phoenix, as both players won their first sets against the Broncos. Arboleda was ahead, 6-1, 5-2, in his match, while Madrid led, 6-2, 2-5.
Elon jumps back into Southern Conference play at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, at Davidson.
