ELON, N.C. – Elon University is set to host the 2013 Southern Conference Tennis Championships April 18-21 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and Burlington Tennis Center.
 
After winning the Southern Conference regular season title, the Elon men’s tennis team earned the top seed in the tournament. The Phoenix plays its first match on Friday, April 19, at 9 a.m. at the Burlington Tennis Center. Elon faces the winner of eighth-seeded Furman and ninth-seeded Appalachian State.
 
The Elon women’s tennis team earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will play its first match on Friday, April 19, at 1 p.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. The Phoenix faces the winner of seventh-seeded Georgia Southern and tenth-seeded Wofford.
 
The Elon men enter the Southern Conference Tennis Championships with a 15-7 record this season. The Phoenix finished the regular season with an 8-2 mark in Southern Conference play to win the league’s regular season title for the fourth time in the last seven years.
 
The Elon women enter the Southern Conference Tennis Championships with a 19-3 record this season, the most wins in a single season by the program since making the transition to the Division I ranks. The Phoenix concluded the regular season with an 8-2 mark against league competition and has won eight consecutive matches following a 7-0 sweep against ECU on April 13.
 
The 2013 Southern Conference Tennis Championships are set for April 18-21 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and Burlington Tennis Center. The Jimmy Powell Tennis Center is on the campus of Elon University and is located at 401 E. Haggard Ave., Elon, N.C., 27244. The Burlington Tennis Center is located in Burlington, N.C., minutes away from the Elon University campus.
