Busa, Gravley Earn All-CAA Volleyball Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced today, Nov. 19, the 2014 All-CAA Volleyball Teams as voted by the league's head coaches. Elon's Sydney Busa was named to the all-rookie team, while Megan Gravley earned a spot on the all-academic team.
 
Busa led the Phoenix as a rookie this season with 294 kills and averaged 2.47 kills per set. The outside hitter also finished with 180 digs, 84 blocks and 15 aces on the season. She notched a career-high 15 kills twice, saw a career-high 11 digs another two times and recorded her career-high six blocks in a three-set match against Western Carolina. The Leesburg, Va., native posted five double-doubles on the season and was named to the Deacon Classic All-Tournament team. On Oct. 6, Busa was named the CAA Co-Rookie of the Week for her performance in matches at James Madison and William & Mary. This marks the fourth straight year an Elon player as earned league honors as a rookie.
 
Gravley earns all-academic honors for the second time in her career. A junior journalism major, she holds a cumulative 3.5 GPA. Gravley finished second on the team this season in kills per set (2.31) and third in kills (187). The Apex, N.C., native posted nine double digit kill performances this season and recorded season-high 16 kills twice.
 
Hofstra's Kelsie Wills and Hannah Klemm were named the player of the year and setter of the year, respectively. College of Charleston's Andi Zbojniewicz earned defensive specialist of the year and Brigitte Burcescu of Northeastern is the league's rookie of the year. The CAA Coach of the Year went to Towson's Don Metil.
