Maroon Team Defeats White Squad 14-0 in Spring Game X [4/24/2010] Thomas Wilson threw for 91 yards while Brandon Newsome carried 13 times for 34 yards and a touchdown to lead the Maroon team to a 14-0 victory over the White squad in Elon's annual spring football game. 14 Football Players Honored by SoCon Coaches X [11/24/2009] A total of 14 Elon Phoenix football players were recognized by the Southern Conference's coaches with either all-conference or all-freshman accolades on Tuesday afternoon. The 14 honorees are the most for the program since joining the SoCon for the 2003 season, surpassing last year's total of 10. The ninth-ranked Phoenix will make its first-ever appearance in the FCS playoffs this weekend by traveling to take on the Richmond Spiders in a 1 p.m. game on Saturday afternoon. Hudgins Catches Three TDs to Send Elon Past UTC X [10/24/2009] The Elon defense did not allow a touchdown until the fourth quarter for the third consecutive outing while Scott Riddle hooked up with Terrell Hudgins for three aerial scores as the seventh-ranked Phoenix routed the Chattanooga Mocs by a 45-10 margin on Homecoming on Saturday afternoon. Phoenix Rolls Over Wildcats, 56-0, in Season Opener X [9/5/2009] Quarterback Scott Riddle threw for 326 yards and four touchdowns and the Elon defense was relentless as the 11th-ranked Phoenix shut out the visiting Davidson Wildcats, 56-0, in the season-opener at Rhodes Stadium on Saturday night in the first meeting between the two schools since 1954.
