Elon Tracksters Continue Success at UNC Invitational

The Elon 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Amy Salek, Sarah Skogen, Melissa Turowski and Jennine Strange set another school record with a time of 3:52.53 to highlight the Phoenix performance at the UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. The time was good for a third place finish overall. The Phoenix will continue their season next Saturday at North Carolina A&T Friendship and Freedom Games before heading to Statesboro, Ga. for the SoCon championships the following weekend.

Elon Track Sets Three New Records at N.C. A&T

Freshman sprinter Amy Salek continued her stellar freshman campaign by breaking two school records at the N.C. A&T Friendship and Freedom Games in Greensboro, N.C. Salek broke the 400-meter dash record, crossing the line in third place with a time of 55.16. The time beat her previous school record set earlier this season. She went on to join sophomores Melissa Turowski and Sarah Skogen and Junior Jennine Strange in the 4x400-meter relay to set a new school record with a time of 3:49.20.

Elon Track Sits in Third After Day One of SoCon Championship

The Elon track and field team is in third place with 26 points, the highest ranking in program history, after the first days competition at the Southern Conference Championship being held in Statesboro, Ga. The team was led by Justine Robertson and Emily Fournier, who garnered all-conference honors, in the javelin throw and the 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively. Appalachian State and Western Carolina sit just above the phoenix team with scores of 84 and 31.

Elon Tracksters Finish Fourth at SoCon Championship

With their highest finish ever in the history of the program, the Elon tracksters finished in fourth place at the 2009 Southern Conference Championship. Putting up 84 points, another program best, the Phoenix placed behind the winner Appalachian State, runner-up Western Carolina and Georgian Southern. To add to the first days success, Elon closed out the final day with four additional all-conference performances and two new school records.
