Sickle Cell Trait Education
Elon University Athletics is in compliance with the April 13, 2010 Division I Legislative Council decision (Bylaw 17.1.5) that prior to participation in any supervised activity, including but not limited to, weight-training, conditioning, practice or competition, all Division I student-athletes will be tested for sickle cell trait or show proof of a prior test.

ADHD/ADD Required Documentation
As of August 1, 2009, the NCAA requires that all student-athletes on stimulant medication for the treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder / Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD) provide necessary and adequate documentation of the diagnosis and treatment to allow for a medical exemption. Those student-athletes who are currently taking stimulant medication for the treatment of ADD/ADHD are
REQUIRED to have the prescribing health care provider complete the Medical Exemption Form.

Sport Team Tryouts
Tryout candidates are not permitted to engage in any Supervised Athletic Activity including practice, strength and conditioning, or any other supervised skill assessment until several items have been completed.
1. Physical Examination – It is required to have a physical examination completed within the last 6 months before you can tryout for a sport team at Elon University.
2. Sickle Cell Trait Status – The NCAA requires that any Division I student-athlete beginning their initial year of eligibility and any student-athlete trying out for a team (including transfers) to show documentation of sickle cell trait status.
3. You must demonstrate proof of insurance that covers intercollegiate sports related injuries.
