Webb, Horne to Lead Lady Dynamo

"We are very pleased to have these to fine coaches working with us says", Dynamo GM Scott Zapko. "They are both up and coming coaches, with Chris's connections and Stuart's W-League background we feel confident we have the right coaches in place to help raise the level on the field", Zapko goes on to say.

"I am really looking forward to the opportunity to coaching in the W-League again and with the Carolina Dynamo. The Dynamo without a question have one of the best stadiums and training grounds in the league and the commitment that is being put forth by the club makes this an exciting place to be", says new Lady Dynamo Coach Stuart Horne.

Chris Webb took over the Phoenix women's soccer head coaching position in February 2005. Webb came to Elon after serving as an assistant at East Carolina University for five seasons. In her time with the Pirates, Webb helped to guide the program to a fourth-place Conference USA finish in 2004. Webb assisted in all aspects of the East Carolina program. Prior to joining the ECU staff, Webb served as both an assistant and interim head coach at Campbell University from 1998-2000.

Webb began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant at North Carolina Wesleyan, her alma mater, in 1996. She remained at N.C. Wesleyan until taking the position at Campbell. A 1996 graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan, Webb was a four-year starter at N.C. Wesleyan and helped lead the team to four NCAA Division III National Tournaments, including an appearance in the 1994 NCAA Division III Final Four. A four-time NSCAA All-South Region and All-Dixie Conference choice, Webb left the school as the program's all-time leader in both goals and points.

Horne came to Elon after spending five years as the head women's soccer coach at Chowan College, where he inherited a program that dwelled near the bottom of the NCAA Division III ranks. Under his leadership, the Chowan program improved every year culminating in a NSCAA South Region top-15 ranking in 2004. During his tenure, Horne guided the Braves to their first-ever postseason berth with a trip to the 2003 USA South Athletic Conference Tournament. The following year, Chowan captured the NCCAA South Region title and advanced to the Final Four of the 2004 NCCAA National Championship. The Braves capped that campaign with a 13-6-4 record and the NCCAA No. 3 national ranking as Horne was crowned the 2004 NCCAA South Region Coach of the Year.

From 2002-2004, Horne served as an assistant for the Hampton Roads Piranhas, a member of the United Soccer League's W-League. He directed the team to playoff appearances each of those three seasons. The Piranhas finished the 2003 season 14-0 on their way to claiming the W- League national title
