ELON, N.C. – The Elon University softball team travels to South Carolina this weekend, April 10-11, for a Colonial Athletic Association road matchup against College of Charleston. The series is scheduled to being on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. before the series finale on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Series Breakdown
• College of Charleston leads the all-time series over Elon, 32-23, in a series dating back to 1999. Since becoming CAA opponents in 2015, both teams are deadlocked with an 8-8 ledger in the series.
• The Phoenix has won the previous two series meetings in 2018 and 2019, taking two out of three both times.
• Both teams last met College of Charleston in 2019, with the Phoenix taking the series with a 6-3 win in the series finale.
 
Last Time Out
• Elon took its first CAA series of the season, taking two out of three over UNCW this past weekend, April 3-4, at Hunt Softball Park.
• The Phoenix swept the Seahawks in its doubleheader matchup last Saturday, winning the opening game 5-2 before clinching the series with a 9-1 victory in the nightcap. UNCW prevented the sweep with a 3-2 victory in the series finale on Sunday.
• Elon improved to 17-12 all-time against its intrastate league foe including an 11-7 record over UNCW since joining the CAA in 2015.
 
Quick Hits
• Going into its weekend series at College of Charleston, Elon is third in the CAA South Division with its 3-3 record. James Madison (5-1) and UNCW (4-2) hold the top two spots in the standings.
• Elon has scored most of its runs in the opening frame, plating 26 runs compared to 17 for its opponent. The Phoenix has struggled in the back end of contests, allowing 19 runs in the seventh inning while scoring only six.
• The Phoenix leads the CAA in walks, earning 99 free passes so far in 2021. Elon also ranks third in the league in triples (five) and home runs (22) and is fourth in total hits with 150.
Mekayla Frazier has a CAA-best three triples on the season while Ally Repko is second in the CAA in walks with 16.
Rebecca Murray leads the Phoenix with her .378 batting average with her 28 total hits leading the CAA. The junior outfielder is also 18th in the country in toughest to strikeout.
Kenna Quinn leads the Phoenix and the CAA with 69.0 total innings. The Boiling Springs, S.C., native recently moved to third in school history in total career appearances with 111 and has a team-best 3.45 ERA and a 6-8 record this season.
 
Scouting College of Charleston
• CofC is 6-21 on the season and 0-6 in the CAA so far in 2021. The Cougars did sweep in-state foe South Carolina State in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 7, in their most recent contests.
• As a team, CofC is hitting .235 on the season and ranks second in the CAA in total hits with 158. Rookie Shealyn Starks has a team-best .297 average for the Cougars and has driven in 12 runs, second-best on the squad.
• In the circle, five players have thrown at least 19.0 innings for the Cougars with senior Kylie Burke leading the way with 52.1 innings. Burke also leads the team with 40 strikeouts, which is third in the CAA.
 
On Deck
The Phoenix continues its road swing with a trip to James Madison next weekend, April 17-18. The series begins with a single-game on Saturday, April 17, at 11 a.m.
