ELON, N.C. – Postseason play for the Elon University softball team begins this week at the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Softball Championship presented by Primis as the fifth-seeded Phoenix opens the tournament versus fifth-seeded College of Charleston on Thursday, May 12 at Hunt Softball Park. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.

TICKETS FOR THE 2022 CAA SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
• All-Session books are $35 for the public and $20 for students from a participating University (with a valid student ID). Individual one-day tickets are $15 each and $8 for students from a participating University (with a valid student ID). Seating at Hunt Softball Park is general admission and subject to availability.
• Tickets can be purchased online at Elontickets.com or on game day at the ticket office located at the main entrance of Hunt Softball Park beginning one hour prior to the first game each day. All tickets are subject to availability.
SERIES BREAKDOWN
• The Cougars led the all-time series over the maroon and gold, 33-31, dating back when the programs began competition against each other in 1999. Since joining the CAA in 2015, Elon has a 16-9 record versus CofC including a 9-3 ledger at Hunt Softball Park.
• The Phoenix won the regular season series over the Cougars on April 9-10. Elon took two out of three games in the series including a 3-0 win in the opener in which Phoenix head coach
Kathy Bocock won her 500
th career game.
ELON AT THE CAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
• The Phoenix is making its fifth appearance at the CAA Softball Championships. Elon is 4-8 at the tournament and was eliminated by Delaware in last year's quarterfinal round.
• Elon and College of Charleston will face each other for the second time ever at the CAA Championships. The two programs last met in 2016 in which the Cougars came away with a 3-2 victory.
THREE GARNER ALL-CAA HONORS
• Elon had three members of its program earn All-CAA postseason honors on Wednesday. Senior outfielder
Rebecca Murray received first team All-CAA laurels while sophomore
Gabi Schaal was named to the second team. Pitcher
Taylor Cherry was placed on the league's All-Rookie Team.
AROUND THE HORN
• The Phoenix is 27-20 overall going into the league championships and finished the season with a 10-8 record in the CAA. Elon last played on the diamond on May 6 versus North Carolina Central and had a 5-0 lead over the Eagles before the game was called due to inclement weather.
• Elon carries a .236 batting average going into the contest this weekend with Murray (.347) being the only active member hitting better than .300 in the Phoenix's regular lineup.
• Murray leads the CAA in stolen bases with 23 and also ranks in the top-10 of the league in batting average, on-base percentage (.415), runs scored (28), hits (51), doubles (13) and total bases (80).
• The Phoenix ranks in the top-five of the CAA in on-base percentage (.329), runs (181), RBI (154), doubles (45), triples (eight), home runs (26), walks (145), stolen bases (58) and total bases (416).
• Elon's pitching staff has a 2.98 team ERA while compiling 221 strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .247, which ranks second in the CAA. The last time that the Phoenix struck out over 200 batters came in 2017.
• The Phoenix used a balanced pitching staff during CAA play with five players pitching between 24 and 19 innings.
Alexa Nemeth has a perfect 6-0 mark during league play while posting a team-best 2.01 ERA in her 24.1 innings despite not starting a game.

McKenzie Weber posts a team-best 1.91 ERA, which is second in the CAA, in her 66.0 innings of action.
Isley Duggins is second in the league in opposing batting average at .188.
SCOUTING COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
• The Cougars ended the regular season with a 14-35 overall record and was 7-10 in the CAA after clinching the fifth and final seed for the tournament last weekend. CofC last played on May 1 against Towson after its series at Delaware was rained out last weekend.
• Offensively, the Cougars are hitting .218 as the team with Jenna Carter (.318) and Jenna Helberg (.314) pacing the way for CofC. Helberg leads the team with her five homers and 22 RBI.
• In the circle, the Cougars are headlined by All-CAA second team pitcher Carli McCants as the junior has a 2.23 ERA in her 116.1 innings of action. She has also struck out 103 batters with CofC posting a team cumulative ERA of 3.14, which is fourth in the league.
ON DECK
The winner between the Phoenix and the Cougars will play later on Wednesday and face No. 1 seed Delaware at 4 p.m. The loser will move to the elimination bracket and square off versus the loser between No. 2 seed Hofstra and No. 3 seed UNCW at 6:30 p.m.
